Choosing the Twelve Apostles

Mat 10:1–4

  1. 1 He called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness.
  2. 2 Now the names of the twelve emissaries are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; Jacob the son of Zebedee; Yochanan, his brother;
  3. 3 Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; Jacob the son of Halfai; Labbai, who was also called Taddai;
  4. 4 Simon the Zealot; and Judah Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

Mrk 3:13–19

  1. 13 He went up into the mountain and called to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him.
  2. 14 He appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them out to proclaim
  3. 15 and to have authority to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:
  4. 16 Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter);
  5. 17 Jacob the son of Zebedee; and Yochanan, the brother of Jacob, (whom he called Benei-Regesh, which means, Sons of Thunder);
  6. 18 Andrew; Philip; Bartholomew; Matthew; Thomas; Jacob, the son of Halfai; Taddai; Simon the Zealot;
  7. 19 and Judah Iscariot, who also betrayed him. Then he came into a house.

Luk 6:12–16

  1. 12 In these days, he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God.
  2. 13 When it was day, he called his disciples, and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named emissaries:
  3. 14 Simon, whom he also named Peter; Andrew, his brother; Jacob; Yochanan; Philip; Bartholomew;
  4. 15 Matthew; Thomas; Jacob the son of Halfai; Simon who was called the Zealot;
  5. 16 Judah the son of Jacob; and Judah Iscariot, who also became a traitor.
