The Transfiguration

Unlocked Literal Bible (ULB)

Mat 17:1–8

  1. 1 Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up a high mountain by themselves.
  2. 2 He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as brilliant as the light.
  3. 3 Behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with him.
  4. 4 Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you desire, I will make here three shelters—one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
  5. 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, there was a voice out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
  6. 6 When the disciples heard it, they fell on their face and were very afraid.
  7. 7 Then Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up and do not be afraid.”
  8. 8 Then they looked up but saw no one except Jesus only.

Mrk 9:2–8

  1. 2 Six days later, Jesus took Peter and James and John with him up a high mountain, alone by themselves. Then he was transfigured before them.
  2. 3 His garments became radiantly brilliant, extremely white, whiter than any bleacher on earth could bleach them.
  3. 4 Then Elijah with Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus.
  4. 5 Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here, and so let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
  5. 6 (For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified.)
  6. 7 A cloud came and overshadowed them. Then a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”
  7. 8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them, but only Jesus.

Luk 9:28–36

  1. 28 Now about eight days after Jesus said these words, he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
  2. 29 As he was praying, the form of his face was changed, and his clothes became brilliant white.
  3. 30 Behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah,
  4. 31 who appeared in glorious splendor. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to completion in Jerusalem.
  5. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were standing with him.
  6. 33 As they were going away from Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)
  7. 34 As he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.
  8. 35 A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, the one who is chosen; listen to him.”
  9. 36 When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. They kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
