The Beatitudes
Unlocked Literal Bible (ULB)
Mat 5:1–12
- 1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
- 2 He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
- 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
- 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
- 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy.
- 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
- 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
- 10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- 11 Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil things against you falsely for my sake.
- 12 Rejoice and be very glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For in this way people persecuted the prophets who lived before you.
Luk 6:20–23
- 20 Then he looked at his disciples, and said, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
- 21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
- 22 Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
- 23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because you will surely have a great reward in heaven, for their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.
