Cleansing the Temple

Unlocked Literal Bible (ULB)

Mat 21:12–17

  1. 12 Then Jesus entered the temple. He cast out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and turned over the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
  2. 13 He said to them, “It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers.”
  3. 14 Then the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
  4. 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the marvelous things that he did, and when they heard the children shouting in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became very angry.
  5. 16 They said to him, “Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes! But have you never read, 'Out of the mouths of little children and nursing infants you have prepared praise'?”
  6. 17 Then Jesus left them and went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

Mrk 11:15–19

  1. 15 They came to Jerusalem, and he entered the temple and began to cast out the sellers and the buyers in the temple. He turned over the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.
  2. 16 He did not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple that could be sold.
  3. 17 He taught them and said, “Is it not written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers.”
  4. 18 The chief priests and the scribes heard what he had said, and they looked for a way to kill him. For they feared him because the entire crowd was amazed at his teaching.
  5. 19 When evening came, they left the city.

Luk 19:45–48

  1. 45 Jesus entered the temple and began to cast out those who were selling,
  2. 46 saying to them, “It is written, 'My house will be a house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of robbers.”
  3. 47 So Jesus was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the leaders of the people wanted to kill him,
  4. 48 but they could not find a way to do it, because all the people were listening to him intently.
