Privacy
You can read everything on MEGA.Bible without an account. When you read, we collect nothing that identifies you — no sign-up, no cookies, no reading history stored on our servers.
Your settings, like your preferred translation, live in your own browser. They never leave your device.
We count visits with Umami, an open-source counter running on our own server. It uses no cookies and stores nothing personal — only anonymous totals, like how many people opened John 3 today.
No ads. No trackers. We never sell or share data, because there is nothing to sell.
Said plainly: we hold nothing worth surrendering. But no website can promise you are invisible. If reading the Bible could put you at risk, download it from offline.bible and read offline.
Accounts are optional and exist for one reason: syncing your study data between devices. If you create one, we store exactly three things — your email address, a securely hashed password, and, only for the data types you switch on, your synced bookmarks, highlights, notes or plan progress. Anything you leave off stays only on your device, and even with an account, what you read is never recorded.
Deleting your account really deletes it: the account and everything synced to it are erased from our server immediately and permanently. You can also export a copy of everything we hold about you, any time, from the account page.
If you contribute a photo, we strip its location and camera data before it is ever stored, and it is reviewed before anyone else sees it. Deleting your account removes any photos still awaiting review; photos already published under an open licence (CC0/CC-BY/CC-BY-SA) remain, but your name is removed from them — they appear as an anonymous contribution.
The children's section collects nothing extra: no accounts, the same anonymous visit counting as the rest of the site, and reading or playing there leaves no personal record. Story and game progress lives only in your browser.
