ด้วยเหตุนี้เองการที่ได้รับมรดกนั้นจึงขึ้นอยู่กับความเชื่อ เพื่อจะได้เป็นตามพระคุณ เพื่อพระสัญญานั้นจะเป็นที่แน่ใจแก่ผู้สืบเชื้อสายของท่านทุกคน มิใช่แก่ผู้สืบเชื้อสายที่ถือพระราชบัญญัติพวกเดียว แต่แก่คนที่มีความเชื่อเช่นเดียวกับอับราฮัมผู้เป็นบิดาของพวกเราทุกคน
