แล้วประชาชนทั้งสิ้นแห่งแผ่นดินก็เข้าไปในนิเวศของพระบาอัล และพังนิเวศเสีย เขาทำลายแท่นบูชาและรูปเคารพของพระบาอัลเสียเป็นชิ้นๆ และได้ประหารชีวิตมัทตานปุโรหิตของพระบาอัลเสียที่หน้าแท่นบูชา และปุโรหิตก็วางยามไว้ดูแลพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์
