At ang ibang mga sundalo ng Israel, ang mga umalis ng lungsod, lumabas para salakayin sila. Kaya hinuli ang kalalakihan ng Ai sa pagitan ng mga hukbo ng Israel, sa ilang bahagi nito at sa ilang bahagi na iyon.
