และท่านแขวนกษัตริย์เมืองอัยไว้ที่ต้นไม้จนถึงเวลาเย็น เมื่อดวงอาทิตย์ตกโยชูวาจึงบัญชาและเขาก็ปลดศพลงจากต้นไม้นำไปทิ้งไว้ที่ทางเข้าประตูเมือง แล้วเอาหินถมทับไว้เป็นกองใหญ่ซึ่งยังอยู่จนทุกวันนี้
