พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ดมกลิ่นหอมหวาน และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงดำริในพระทัยว่า “เราจะไม่สาปแช่งแผ่นดินอีกเพราะเหตุมนุษย์ ด้วยว่าเจตนาในใจของเขาล้วนแต่ชั่วร้ายตั้งแต่เด็กมา เราจะไม่ประหารสิ่งทั้งปวงที่มีชีวิตอีกเหมือนอย่างที่เราได้กระทำแล้วนั้น
